Mornings at the Castle

So I thought I would post this to give some insight to a typical morning in our household. I actually had to go in early so this was the email Burke sent to me letting me know how the girls morning had started off.

Any how I was calling this morning to tell about our morning… Mckall woke up when I got in the shower about 6:35 happy as a lamb, when I got out, I got here some milk and pancakes and turn on her Mickey Mouse movie. Bintzer came in about 6:55 also very cheerful. I figured since it was early I would give them a bath. Bintz hoped right in and Lovin had a melt down. Needless to say it was a quick bath. Got lovin ready put her back in front of her movie with milk and pancakes happy as can be. Bintz got ready brushed teeth and hair and then I made the mistake of asking her to get her shoes on… the little mind of an elephant, wanted to wear her pink flip flops, well we only have one and the other was left at Scott and Jen’s, what 2 months ago??? Any how she asked if she could look silly and just wear one shoe. I said no, she cried! We had little time out session and threaten she would go to Mrs. Jones and not the park. She got up put on her blue flip flops and had blue blanky and pink shoe. I asked if she wanted to leave pink flip flop here so it didn’t get left at Dudes. She said she wanted to cuddle it today….So Dude just called and asked if I am concerned, because your daughter is walking around Target cuddling, hugging and kissing a Pink Shoe.

Happy Birthday Willow!

Yesterday was Willow's birthday and it was spent luau style. Which after our trip in January, this is princess #1's favorite style. It was super cute with palm trees, bright colors, and a kid favorite - snow cones. I have a ton of cute pictures be sure to check them out on the smug mug site, (there were too many cute ones to show in this post). Princess #1's favorite thing about the party was; the pinata, candy, and playing with her cousins. Meanwhile princess #2 was deeply entertained by a plain, yes plain, snow cone (basically shaved ice). For some reason, I don't know why, she is not a sweets person (obviously she didn't get that from me) she doesn't love cookies, sweets, and popsicles the way princess #1 and I do. But Mckall did love Julie's Lasagna, for those of you who haven't tried it, you can't blame her it is awesome. Well this was the perfect end to another whirl wind weekend with the girls.

What a difference a year makes -

So exactly a year ago today Burke and I were sitting in the waiting room at PCMC while Mckall underwent open heart surgery. Wow, what a difference a year makes! When they closed up her heart they must have added just an extra pinch of energy because she has been non stop ever since. The piece of Tephlon that was sewn in her heart was about the size of a dime. Which that seems huge since she was only 10 lbs at the time of surgery. We are truly lucky that she is such a fighter and as her pediatrician says "pound for pound he is her toughest patient". Sadly he means physically though and mean. To this day she still detests anyone in scrubs or with a stethoscope around their neck. After all she has gone through I am totally OK with that!

Sad news for us...

Well on Wednesday Dude had to put down Tahoe, her gorgeous golden retriever. As the girls spend so much time with her it was a hard day for them and us as well. While we were at work Dude, the girls and her boys had a little service. It consisted of flowers for Tahoe, a ball for her to play with, and some farewell words. Danika's words were as follows "Tahoe we will miss you, you were the smartest dog we ever had." I think she pretty much summed it up for all of us.

Floating around with Dad

Well this was a pretty good Father's Day for us, but as you know everyday at our house is father's day (just kidding). The girls woke up their Dad with a few gifts to get him in new gear for our day ahead. This was the first day we had taken out the boat since we have had no Spring and a late start to summer here. We spent the entire day on the lake, floating on the tube, having a picnic, making sand castles, and yes despite the very cold water even wake boarding. Then it was back to the house for a BBQ (one of princess #1's favorite activities). All in all it was a good, not relaxing, but good day. Hope the rest of you Dad's out there had just as good of a day!
