Thank goodness it is over!
For those of you that don't know Princess #1 is an avid fan of American Idol. Especially a fan of Salt Lake City's own David Archuletta. She has watched every show from the beginning and voted every week for David A. So you can imaging that the finale between David A. and David C. was a big deal in our house. For those of you living under a rock, David C. one and we were stuck with one "on the verge" of tears toddler. However sadness soon turned to anger as she was mad that we didn't vote more times the night before. David A. only lost by 12 million votes, so we could have easily made up the difference. In the end Princess #1 was satisfied that David A. may soon be coming back to Salt Lake. She is especially excited as he lives very near one of her friends and so now I am constantly getting the question, "When can we go play and drive by David A.'s house?"
How Princesses spend a Wednesday Night
Here is a quick snapshot of a typical Wednesday night at our household. Princess #2 led me into her room and pointed to her Halloween skunk costume, so I got it down for her and she took it to Dad to put on. After getting the costume one I figured out what her plan was, she wanted to go outside! Since it had been raining and cold she figured the skunk costume was her jacket and snow suit. Who said the babies aren't smart. Not to be outdone Princess #1 went and got her Halloween zebra costume and put it on. So there we were watching TV with our two favorite animals and baby skunk and a zebra!

Mother's Day
Both of the princess's treated their mother like a Queen this Mom's day. I hope everyone had an equally lazy and pampered day. The princesses let me sleep until 9 and could stand it no more, their excitement had gotten the best of them. Both of them barrelled in Danika with new running shoes and Mckall with the Nike chip for running with my iPod. Danika was especially exited this Mother's Day as she had also made me a gift a preschool. I will try to attach a picture to this post so you all can see it. It was a heart made out of her hand prints, it was yellow, as she know this is my favorite color. Since Danika was so excited, Mckall knew she better follow suite and was more than happy to also give her gift. We then progressed to the kitchen for homemade omelets (courtesy of Burke). The rest of the day was lazy and then a dinner with Burke's family for some take out Chinese. All in all a very memorable and slow moving day, something we could use more of.
How Princesses Camp
We already had our first camp out of the season complete with sleeping bags, popcorn, flashlights and scary stories. The catch is is that these princesses camped out in the front living room while watching the movie Cars. After Mckall drifted off the sleep; Dankia, Burke and I stayed up telling scary stories. Not sure the caliber of scary stories for a four year old, Danika went first. Her scary story was about a dog who belonged to a witch and ran away but was later found by people and returned to the witch. However in Danika's story telling fashion this includes many sound effects as well as flying around the living room like a witch. After our movie and scary stories Danika moved her sleeping bag to the couch. I asked her why she got the couch and I got the floor and I was then informed that the floor was hard and she isn't sleeping on the floor. After that statement we all moved our sleeping bags to the bed. Goodnight!

Batterr Up
At the end of last year I distinctively remember hearing "there is no way I am going to coach a kids tball team, twelve 3-4 year olds is exhausting." Well somehow princess #1 managed to talk her Dad into doing coaching her tball team again, (gee I wonder how). Danika has improved over last year and even took a few coach pitches without the tee this year. Tonight was the last night marked with treats, trophies and smiles. The only person not smiling was princess #2 who after eight games is no longer satisfied sitting on the sidelines being the bat girl. She wants one of two things either to play the game or play at the park. She opted the second choice frequently and I would end up chasing her down at the slide. Where is the toddler clinginess when you need it?

Expanded Capabilities
Princess #2 has expanded her naugtiness to higher levels as she is currently carrying a stool around the house to allow her to capture things previously not in her reach. Yes she is already trying to unlock the doors to go out side, so we may be investing in a door alarm before too long. It is a battle of wits between princess #2 and the parents. Wish us luck!
Princess of the Month
Princess #1 (Danika) was recently nominated for Student of the Month at her Dance Studio. Both parents and princess are very proud of this accomplishment, check out the little bio of her in the studio's newsletter. She has a dance competition this weekend and her class is singing a Hannah Montana song, which makes Danika even more excited to dance. Will keep you posted as to the adventure this weekend. http://www.danceexplosionut.com/images/Newsletters/may_2008.pdf
Searching for Ice Cream
We started our the evening in search of the music of the ever illusive .. ice cream truck. Princess #1 and #2 piled into the stroller along with a couple of the neighbor kids following along searching as well. As we passed one of the kids Danika said "Hello Duffous" after explaining that wasn't very nice (and blaming Burke for giving her the name) she explained that when she asked the boy last week what his name was that was what he told her. Well after that statement there was no reasoning with her the boy's name from now on was Duffous. At the end of a half hour the ice cream man had escaped us but not without a promise to the girls that we would search again another night.
